7 Tips for Introverts to Have Success While Dating Online
Stop thinking that online dating is meant for the lepers of society and only the desperate flock to these websites. That is far from the truth and there are millions of people finding love all the time. Instead of seeing online dating as a negative thing that you should be ashamed of, look at it was a proactive attempt to steer your love life into a positive direction.
For introverts, it can be difficult meeting people the conventional way. So online dating may be the perfect opportunity to find love. Typically, introverts are better at communicating with others through their writing and they already have an active social life online. Introverts are good at understanding the people they meet online and they are also pretty well versed in subtle innuendo and reading between the lines.
Here are 7 things introverts should keep in mind to maximize their online dating experience and find success.
1. You will get what you’ve paid for. There are free sites and the sites where you have to pay a membership fee. Here you may find people who are serious about looking for love. Of course, if you feel that you fit better with the people on a free website, so be it. You want to make sure that you choose a site that fits what you are looking for as much as one that fits your budget.
2. Don’t be afraid to use your creativity when creating your profile. If you want to mention a quirky pet you may have or a hobby that isn’t very common, don’t second guess your decision to put it on there. The name of the game is standing out!
3. Use profile information and emails as a source for information. You can learn a lot about a person when you look for clues that could either bring you together, or turn you off. Look for things like their social habits (can be evident in their pictures) and even their education (spelling and grammar is really important!).
4. Introverts love to write and they do their best communication through text, emails, or other ways that doesn’t require talking. However, they can get carried away and share so much through a written correspondence, but when time comes to meet, you find out you have no chemistry.
5. The first date is something that you cannot avoid, no matter how much you talk to one another online. Fortunately, in one on one situations, introverts tend to do their best and when you take what you’ve learned online to the date, you will be able to fill those awkward silences with no problem.
6. Plan an activity for your first date instead of sitting and talking. By choosing an activity, it is taking the pressure off of having to talk about things. You may learn that you work well together and you enjoy each other’s company. This will make it much easier to go into a second date where there you will be able to learn more about each other.
7. Patience is a virtue and that is no lie. It may take you a little while to find your match, but you cannot give up. When you feel like you are starting to feel defeated, take a break for a while. Temporarily suspend your account and continue going about your daily life. Who knows, maybe someone will wander in when you least expect it.
