The Biggest Mistake Men Make While Dating Online

Online dating is not a trend, it is a way of life for many singles across the globe. Our schedules are so jam-packed with things to do and people to see, it can be a challenge getting to the local watering hole and meeting someone.

Since men are the ones who usually do the blind-initial messaging, they tend to be the worst offenders of making mistakes when messaging someone. Yes, there are guys who try to represent themselves well, but there are men who try too hard and they come off as strange or creepy; particularly those who use techniques pickup artists generally use in a real-world setting. And at the far left end of the spectrum of men online, you have those who say things that are completely out of line and they wouldn’t have the guts to even try to say anything so bold in person.

It is believed that men generally come off a bit strangely online because they simply do not know how to approach women online without employing some lame technique. Some men frequent pickup artist forums and believe that the tactics seen there work just as well online as they do in person (here’s a hint, they don’t.). These men are under the impression that you will think he is funny or a bit quirky when you use a line like “I’ve already married and divorced you in my mind,” but they only come off a stupid and it’s generally the socially awkward ones that truly believe the pickup artist mumbo jumbo works.

Then you have the guy who is too honest and is under the impression that because he is behind a screen, he can say whatever he wants. Sometimes it ranges from blunt sexual advances to something that is awkward like suggesting that because he’s never been with a particular type of woman, that that woman should go out with him.

It is interesting to note that there are so many men who aren’t self-aware and tend to lack common sense when it comes to online dating. These men think it is okay to lie to women online as long as it gets them what they want. These men don’t understand that you needn’t mislead anyone because if she is really into you, she’ll like you no matter what.

What we are saying here is that if you really want to find success with online dating, be genuine and kind. Give direct answers and respond positively to women you are interested in. You should never allow the conversation to sway in a direction that would never happen if you were talking to someone in real life.
